IKOS Systems Announces HDL Link For VStation Emulators

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 6, 2001--IKOS Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:IKOS), a leading provider of high-performance design verification solutions, today announced a new product, HDL Link, that enables customers to migrate their HDL test bench environment from the workstation to the VStation emulator providing substantial productivity gains.

``In working with development partners and early adopters, we have seen tremendous interest in the VStation HDL Link,'' said Linda Prowse Fosler, vice president of marketing for IKOS. ``These organizations are verifying large SoC designs and need the performance of emulation-based systems. However, traditional emulation systems do not allow users to incorporate their existing HDL test benches -- test benches that represent both monetary and intellectual value. HDL Link allows users to leverage the industry standard Verilog and VHDL test benches through the VStation emulator, extending the value of their investment and reducing emulation design bring-up time. Users can also run their designs on VStation with their HDL test benches or blocks on the workstation and achieve performance improvements of 7 to 13X as compared with software simulation. HDL Link delivers absolute performance of up to 12,000 cps.''

Micron Technology, Inc. (NYSE:MU) is one of several early adopters of the HDL Link. ``We are excited to be working with IKOS as a development partner and early adopter of the VStation HDL Link product,'' commented Yong Yi, Emulation Engineer with Micron Technology. ``We are very enthusiastic about having the ability to easily port our valuable test benches to the VStation emulator. We believe that HDL Link's powerful design analysis features will reduce our time-to-emulation and provide us with an overall improvement in productivity and a competitive edge in bringing advanced semiconductor products to market.''

ABOUT HDL LINK

HDL Link gives customers the ability to use their existing test bench environment with IKOS' VStation emulators bringing these two environments closer together. HDL Link supports co-simulation with the industry's leading simulators including NC-Verilog, Verilog-XL from Cadence Design Systems and VCS from Synopsys Inc. In addition, HDL Link can be used for co-simulation with behavioral blocks or intellectual property (IP), allowing users to start verification on the VStation emulator before all design blocks are ready. Sophisticated design analysis and debug capabilities give users 100% visibility to all signals at any time. Further, users can issue breakpoints from the command line or the test bench, examine signals on the fly, change signals, and continue simulation without having to re-compile. A single graphical environment for viewing design and test bench signals enhances ease of use and delivers a real productivity boost to today's SoC designers.

ABOUT IKOS' VSTATION EMULATORS

IKOS' VStation-15M and 5M emulators offer a complete verification station offering with a simulation-like user interface; high-performance co-modeling through the Transaction Interface Portal (TIP); data streaming with virtually unlimited vector width and fully integrated RTL compile and debug capabilities. VStation-15M can verify highly complex designs up to 15 million gates with 100% visibility enabled; has memory capacity up to 144Mbytes and operates at emulation speeds up to 2MHz. It incorporates IKOS' patented VirtuaLogic(TM) compiler and VirtualWires(TM) technology and provides a complete SoC verification solution featuring easy memory modeling; accurate modeling of asynchronous clocks; and fast, fully automated partitioning and compilation.

PRICING AND AVAILABILITY

HDL Link is currently available for early adopters. The product will be available for general use in calendar Q3 2001 for an incremental price of $25,000 (U.S. List Price). Entry level VStation-5M and 15M pricing begins at $495,000 and $940,000 respectively (U.S. List Price).
